Discover Yunnan: Where Mountains and Coffee Meet
While the world knows Ethiopia, Colombia, and Panama, few have heard of Yunnan — yet this mountainous province in southwestern China may be one of the most promising coffee-growing regions on Earth.
At the heart of it lies Lujiangba, a hidden valley in Baoshan, bordering the Gaoligong Mountains and the Nu River. With dry-hot river gorges, volcanic soils, and a powerful föhn wind effect, this region offers a rare combination of intense sunlight, rich red earth, and stable temperatures between 1300 and 1700 meters. Coffee cherries here ripen slowly, developing concentrated sweetness and layered complexity.
The first Arabica trees in Lujiangba were planted in the 1950s, and many of the original Typica and Bourbon trees still thrive — making this one of Asia’s oldest continuously cultivated specialty coffee regions. Today, third-generation farmers are bringing global attention to Yunnan with bold innovations in processing and varietals, from experimental Geisha and Villa Sarchi, to vibrant Catimor and Caturra lots with structured acidity and floral depth.
But Lujiangba is just one part of the story.
Yunnan’s coffee landscape is made up of six core producing regions — each with its own microclimate, flavor profile, and cultural legacy:
Pu’er: The powerhouse of Chinese coffee, producing over 50,000 tons annually with a complete ecosystem of research, trade, and education institutions.
Baoshan: The cradle of Chinese Arabica, home to century-old trees and high-elevation estates like Lujiangba.
Lincang: A rising star with explosive growth, known for volcanic soil and fruit-forward cup profiles.
Dehong: The historic birthplace of Yunnan coffee, where Arabica was introduced in 1914 and the country’s largest coffee germplasm bank resides.
Xishuangbanna: A rainforest coffee region where Catimor and Typica thrive near tropical jungles, producing lush, balanced profiles.
Dali: Home to Zhukula, China’s oldest Bourbon Typica village, where coffee has been cultivated since 1904.
Together, these six regions account for over 99% of China’s coffee production and shape the country’s growing reputation as an origin for quality and traceability.

Our Story
Born in Yunnan. Rooted in Coffee. Connected by Origin.
Simeng and Xin grew up among the misty hills and rice terraces of Yunnan — where clouds cling to coffee trees and every harvest tells a story of hands, soil, and seasons.
We studied hard and left our hometowns in search of knowledge — one to New York, the other to Frankfurt. But the farther we went, the stronger our bond with home became.
Now, through coffee, we hope to give back to the land that raised us.
Yunnan Specialty Coffee began as a way to stay connected to home — and to share it with the world. Today, we work directly with farmers, mills, and exporters across Pu’er, Baoshan, Dehong, and Lincang to bring fresh-crop, specialty-grade green coffee to global roasters — bridging continents through quality, transparency, and deep respect for origin.
We believe great coffee begins with connection — between people, land, and culture!
Here’s what guides us:
Respect for Origin
We honor Yunnan’s land, people, and traditions — sharing it as it is, without exaggeration or artificial stories.
Transparency & Trust
We work only with partners we know and trust. Every step of the supply chain — from farmer to roaster — is traceable, honest, and human.
Commitment to Growth
We’re new to exporting coffee, but not new to the land. We welcome learning, listening, and collaboration. We're here to grow with you.
Sustainable in Practice
We support smallholder farms that grow coffee naturally, and we aim to promote environmentally responsible, future-ready trade.
